On Liberty Conference Finals day hosted at Fairfield Prep's Grauert Field, the conditions were perfect as the HRFC took on rival Yale for Cormack Cup supremacy. Following a tight first half with Yale ahead 0-5, the Crimson came out firing in the second half. After a well-worked backline move nearly led to a long-range score, Senior Will McQuiston, leaving a trail of defenders in his wake, scored his first career 15s try in what was his final game for HRFC. Freshman Koan Hemana converted and HRFC took the lead 7-5. Behind Hemana's boot, which added 2 penalty kicks and a drop goal to HRFC's tally, there were 4 lead changes in the second half. In the final stanza, however, Yale had the edge in capitalizing on what turned out to be costly HRFC errors. Struggling to win back possession in the dying moments, HRFC's defense bent but did not break though the game finished 16-17 in favor of the opposition.
A special thanks to all the seniors who will leave the HRFC in a better place than when they found it amidst the uncertainty in 2020, and to the family and friends who came out to support all season long!
